Creative Camera Skills
For those who already know how their camera works, this is a hands-on course in using a variety of photographic techniques to improve your abilities with your camera and your eye as a photographer.
Bring your camera and equipment and be prepared to experiment and expand your photographic skills. Learn skills such as framing and composition, flash use, extended exposures, photographing at night, intentional camera movement, macro photography, still life, and food photography.

Travel and Street Photography
Elevate your travel photography by learning how to overcome shyness when photographing people and breathe new life into your landscape shots and select photos worthy of Instagram. Explore essential travel and street photography gear, master camera settings, improve composition and understand the role of lighting to enhance your images. Gain inspiration from renowned photographers and practice your skills on guided photo walks through downtown Victoria.

Image Transfer
Learn a range of techniques to transfer your photographs onto printmaking paper, acrylic skins and other surfaces that can be incorporated into your paintings, collage or mixed media artwork. Discover how to blend, distress and create composite images by hand (as opposed to through a digital process). Artists, photographers and anyone interested in photo-based mixed media will find this workshop of interest. No experience necessary, just your enthusiasm!

Photography Plus: Understand Your Camera and Improve Your Photos
Please note that this course is located at the new West Shore campus!
Do you love photography, but aren’t always happy with your photographs? This course—for those new to photography or their camera—will cover the basics of camera use and composition. You’ll learn how to operate your camera, take part in creative exercises and create new images! Please bring your camera, which should have a manual control setting, and a notebook and pen to each class.
