London is a city of intersections — between light and shadow, stone and glass, movement and emotion. It is a mix of historical & modern seemingly designed to be photographed in monochrome.

The Club’s Christmas Party Planning Committee elves have been working hard to organise a jolly evening for you on December 11th, 5:30 p.m. at Norway House. The registration cut-off date is November 25th, so register soon!

Learn how to create striking long-exposure light-painting photographs using simple tools, inspired by Canadian photographer Stephen Orlando’s glowing trails of movement. Perfect for DIY photographers, no special gear required. Illustrated with photographs by Roland Nowland, Erin Flanagan, David Cox, Kathryn Delany, and Anke Weber.

We begin with an introduction by Kahsia Hartwell, Ulana’s friend and one of our VCC members, before following the story behind her project and book. Ulana also shares how she created the photograph on the book’s cover: a sea Torii covered in ice and snow.

Anne McCarthy shares her thoughts on the inspiration behind her upcoming exhibit, Light Reigns, Shadows Rule, November 18-December 7, 2025 at The Gage Gallery. A new lens, an unfamiliar place, a get-together with like-minded people, or the promise of a walk are common inspirations that encourage us to create images.

We sincerely thank our external judges for their adjudication and comments in our Novice, Intermediate and Advanced digital and print competitions. Their comments on our images are a valuable learning opportunity for all participants and will help our club members in all their photographic endeavours.
