What is architectural photography?
Architectural photography focuses on existing buildings and structures. This can include structures like bridges and fountains as well as entire cityscapes.
Look for elements of design in the man-made structures around you. Once you start seeing these elements, you’ll see different compositions everywhere, such as symmetry, leading lines, textures, patterns, colours, shading, depth, reflections and repetition. In your architecture photography, attempt to capture these elements in creative ways that show them in a new and interesting way.
Architectural photography can include everything from minimalist and architectural detail (Angie McMonigal) to entire cityscapes (Rick Hulbert cityscapes gallery). Architectural photography also includes photos from both interior and exterior vantage points. Another element you might consider includes volumetric space (Rick Hulbert volumetric spaces gallery).
