VICTORIA CAMERA CLUB PRESENTED AN EVENING WITH LEAH GRAY – MARCH 22 ND , 2024
Leah Gray treated us to a wonderful presentation on Friday at the Gibson Auditorium. Her
insightful explanations of her creative thought process, supported by her excellent imagery,
were an inspiration to all in attendance.
Leah’s presentation was very professional, informative, entertaining and well received.
Eighty persons attended the Event. Some Registrants were, unfortunately, unable to attend.
There was an approximately 60% (VCC Members) to 40% (Non-members) split. It will be
interesting to see how many of the non-members join the Victoria Camera Club in the future.
From an organizer’s perspective, the Event went off smoothly as planned with no major
glitches.
The facilities at Camosun College (Lansdowne Campus) Young Building were excellent. The
Gibson Auditorium is a grand old theatre, showing its age a bit but still ornate and charming,
and well suited to this type of audio-visual presentation.
Aramark Catering did a fine job on the refreshments for the intermission.
The two class-rooms across the hall (used for serving refreshments during the intermission)
were conveniently located and appropriately sized. There were very few others (students, staff)
on the second floor of the Young Building at the time of the Event, which meant there was no
distracting noise in the hallway outside the Auditorium.
A heartfelt thank you to Leah Gray for a delightful and thought-provoking evening. Those in
attendance have been encouraged to get out and unleash their inner creativity.
I’d like to thank our dedicated team of Volunteers: Bob Law, Jim Fowler, Alline Cormier, Jake
Saito and Sharon Moysey for their assistance during the presentation. Thanks to Richard
Letourneau for his earlier assistance with the website (and related items) and to James Dies and
the VCC Board for their assistance leading up to the Event.
And thanks to Liana Matlo (Camosun Facilities Manager) and her team who were very
responsive and helpful in making the arrangements for use of the Gibson Auditorium.
Altogether, An Evening with Leah Gray, was a very successful Event marking the Victoria
Camera Club’s 80 th Anniversary.
