Big Eye in the Sky

On May 16, the Tuesday photo group visited the largest optical telescope in active use in Canada, The Plaskett telescope at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory.

The above photograph shows the telescope’s English equatorial mount. The mount allows the telescope to track the motion of the stars.
At the lower left is the camera attached to the telescope.

The above photograph shows four and a half of the club members busy photographing the telescope.
The half person comes from a less than perfect effort at stitching photographs together to make a pano.
But, we do get a nice view of the bottom of the telescope and its camera.
